The community that you build, it makes you feel at home.

What is your biggest piece of advice to first years and sophomores about getting connected to this department?
Have an open mind and be curious. Ask as many questions as you can think up. All of the professors in the department truly want you to learn and grow.

What is something you know now that you wish you could tell your first-year self?
To make more connections with the people who have different interest.

What is the most valuable thing you’ve learned at K?
I have learned to be confident in my worldview and the things that I value.

What has been your favorite class at K?

How have you taken advantage of the flexible curriculum or experienced breadth?
When I came to K, I thought that I was just going to major in psychology. Because of the open curriculum I was able to take classes outside of the psychology department that also interested me and that is how I found a home in the religion department.

What experiential education opportunities have you participated in?
I am a two sport athlete. I am on the women’s basketball team and the softball team. I have done volunteering at El Sol Elementary in Kalamazoo. I have done an internship in counseling psych and school psych. I have volunteered with the miracle league as well.

What is your SIP?
I am doing ethnographic research on the Potawatomi reservation here in Southwest Michigan.

What are your career aspirations/next steps after K?
I am going to attend grad school to get my specialists degree in school psychology.

What is a random fun fact about you?
My favorite book is Little Women
